Cosmetology
About the Cosmetology Pathway
The Cosmetology Pathway at Monte Vista is one of 2 in all of San Diego County. It is taught by Ms. Trujillo and prepares students with skills and certifications to prepare them for careers in cosmetology. This includes: barbers, estheticians, nail technicians, salon work, and much more.
Through the pathway, students are able to practice the specifics skills behind these trades applicable to professional settings and an in depth look at the structure of the profession itself. Students get to connect with industry professionals and local post-high school programs to continue their careers after graduation (including San Diego City College, Paul Mitchell, California Hair Design Academy, and ALVA Beauty Collective).
The courses are as follows:

These are not necessarily in a sequential order. Please contact your counselor to identify which course would be best for you!
Through the pathway, students engage in Community Projects, partnering with local community schools and practicing these skills while building up Spring Valley!
