Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. Thank you for visiting our website. Monte Vista High School is rich in tradition due to the great support it receives from its alumni and surrounding community. We welcome your involvement and invite you to attend our performances, athletics events, meetings, committees and celebrations.
At MVHS, our staff is committed to providing a quality comprehensive program designed to meet the diverse needs and interests of students. A wide variety of academic core, elective, and vocational courses are available to prepare students for college and the world of work. Through participation in sports, co-curricular programs, and extracurricular activities our students develop positive interpersonal and leadership skills.
We provide academic supports to ensure students have every opportunity to successfully complete courses and earn their diploma. There are several intervention programs including an Advisory/Tutorial period, after-school tutoring, math support classes, a before and after-school Homework Center, and a Learning Center for eleventh and twelfth grade students who are significantly behind in credits toward graduation.
Monte Vista offers a strong, comprehensive selection of Honors/Advanced Placement courses in English, mathematics, social science, science and world languages. Our parents participate in PTSA, AVID, English Learner Parent Advisory Committee, PIQE Parent Institute and parent committees. By working together to provide academic and emotional support, teachers and parents create a positive climate for academic achievement and personal growth.
This year is our designated WASC accreditation year. We have the opportunity to to conduct a site Self-Study as part of the WASC (Western Association for Schools and Colleges) accreditation process. We will be revisiting our site goals, mission, vision and learning outcomes to align with our district LCAP goals and strategic plan to ensure we are providing an exemplary academic program for your child.
The Monte Vista Monarchs are proud of their traditions, academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, and school spirit. We welcome you to be a part of continuing to build on our traditions. Join us for our events, or call the main office to request a campus tour. Please explore the rest of our website to discover all that Monte Vista has to offer.
