Freshman Keys to Success
  • Be serious about your grades and courses; some already count for college admission.
Attend class every day and on time.Be an active learner, come prepared and ready to learn.Practice study and time management skills. If you are absent from class, make sure to ask for missing assignments.Stay organized; use folders or binders for each class.
Explore honors courses to help you achieve your graduation goals.
  • Become involved in extracurricular activities on or off campus.
You can see your counselor to get a list of clubs, athletic coach contact information, academic competition opportunities and much more. Getting involved will help you to make new friends, gain new skills and you’ll be doing something positive in school. High school is like anything else – the more you put into it, the more you get out of it!

  • Get to know and talk to your counselor and academic advisor.
Your counselor can answer questions about what classes to take in high school, how to explore career interests, how to sign up for standardized tests, and where to get money for college. They can also help you build a portfolio of your activities, honors and awards as you prepare for life after high school.
